Coming from the Westwood Oaks integrated neighborhood, I pondered two questions. First, could District Council elections benefit the City? Second, could District elections damage the City? I could see benefits for support of District elected Council where a District gets a champion supporting their particular need. On the other hand, why would the other Districts support a lone need which doesn’t improve their District? For years I have lived under the downtown political mob, but the broad candidate range of this election promises a more balanced Council. If successful in broadening City reach, I’d stick to City wide, hoping for fruits that benefit the WHOLE City.

The developer, Lamb Partners (Randy Lamb – Atherton Planning Commissioner) started to purchase the two single family homes along Monroe, 906 Monroe St. and 930 Monroe St. in Feb 2019 and Sep 2019 respectively. Santa Clara is the ONLY city in the entire State of California to have an elected Chief of Police. I contend that Santa Clarans don’t actually have a choice in selecting their Chief of Police. The current Chief of Police, Pat Nikolai, ran unopposed in his last two elections March 2020 and November 2020. Mike
