Replying to Don Herbelin’s letter in the 8/27 WEEKLY. He sees more abandoned shopping carts along the streets mentioned than I do, but I suggest he notify the City of Santa Clara Code Enforcement Consultant about this. Some of the “crumbling infrastructure” he mentions is the responsibility of private property owners, but most of it is probably the responsibility of the City. No one more than I likes to live in an attractive City, however, I want to give credit where it’s due to the City and especially it’s new Manager, Julio Fuentes, for working on sprucing up major roads, like the El Camino, with plants, lights, overpass paint and City seals which look great. Positive change is slow progress, but at least it’s moving in the right direction!
